This & That

The busy photo season is in full swing!
And I love it!

This is Rachel.  She is a 2013 Senior from Lansing.   She is up visiting
for a while so I was able to be her senior photographer.
There are so many gorgeous images from
her session!  But for now I’ll leave you with one 🙂

Rachel senior photo

This is a session I would not normally do since
I’ve dedicated myself as a senior and wedding photographer but I had to make an exception for these girls.
They are sisters who are really close and the oldest is about to go
off to college.   They wanted to surprise Mom with some photos.
I loved the idea!   Plus you will see one of them on my blog in the fall
when I do her senior session 😉

This beautiful redhead is my friend Claire.  🙂
She is helping me with my weddings this summer.  We did
a quick 10 minute photo shoot in my backyard the
other day.  Claire wanted some new head shots.
I loved so many of them that I will
definitely be blogging our mini session soon!

And this is my photographer friend Julie.  She is a very
talented photographer so it was a bit
intimidating photographing her 😉
She needed some new head shots also, so hopefully
I was able to deliver 😉   I’ll be blogging her full session soon too!

Plus.. I have lots of gorgeous senior sessions and a super handsome young
man to blog but you will all just have to wait on those 😉   I need to
let them see them first 🙂

Jason + Angie { An Ontonagon, MI beach wedding }

You know it was a great wedding when you smile the whole way
through processing the photos.  I think I tend to do
that with most weddings.  I get to re-live them every time I work
on the photos.  This wedding had me smiling and laughing at times while editing.

Angie and Jason have been together for 8 years.
When they decided to get married, Jason thought it
would just be a simple small affair at the courthouse.   Angie had other plans.  She is a pinterest queen!   And let me tell you, that is a photographers dream!

She had so many awesome and fun ideas and details
throughout the day.  It was all around an amazing day!   HOT but amazing 😉

The wedding was at Angie’s parents house on the shores
of Lake Superior in Ontonagon.

Angie has two little doggies.  They followed her around all day.
You can find them in many of the photos below 😉
My favorite idea that Angie had was these brooch bouquets
that her mom and Jason’s mom made!
They were gorgeous!  I’ve never seen anything like it!
Having a moment with Mom before the ceremony.
I sent my second shooter Claire down the road to check up on the guys.
The groom was getting a last minute haircut
with regular household scissors…lol.
The guys arriving at the ceremony site.
And the handsome and happy groom 🙂
Love this one!
Angie was just beautiful!   All smiles all day too!
Seriously!!  Amazing!!   Sometimes I can’t believe I live in
an area this gorgeous!
Angie’s dad made the trellis out of driftwood.  Isn’t that the
neatest thing!  I was floored when I saw it!

Ribbon streamers and fan programs 🙂The bride and groom exited to bubbles and ribbon streamers.  So fun!
This was the best bridal party!  They were up for anything
and everything!  Despite the crazy heat, they were champs!
The reception was at the Americinn in Silver City.  It was a
really neat place to have a reception.  It’s right on the beach
and really pretty outside.

First dance as Mr. & Mrs.  🙂
We took a few minutes to get some more portraits done
down on the beach shortly before the sun set.  Thanks to Claire for this great capture 🙂

I wish you both a lifetime of laughter, love and
happiness!  I don’t think that will be any trouble
for you guys! 😉

A sneak peek from Saturday’s wedding :)

I don’t have the official blog post ready yet so I
thought I would post these pictures that
I just love!   A bride and groom who are still laughing and having
fun together at the end of their evening.
It doesn’t get any better than that!

Ryan + Erin { Calumet, MI wedding }

Saturday’s wedding was such a beautiful one!  The ceremony was at St. Pauls in Calumet.  This is a really old and historic church with gorgeous details inside!   Ryan and Erin chose this church to get married in because Ryan’s parents married in it also!

Erin looked stunning in her wedding gown!  Loved the detail on it!   Ryan was as calm as could be before the ceremony!Having a moment with Mom 🙂And another one with her son… so sweet!Time to get married! How amazingly gorgeous is this church!!?For portraits, we visited the family property where Ryan proposed to Erin.   It was in this very same spot.  Love special stuff like this!Ryan made a foursquare check in while we were there 🙂Stunning!!The reception was held at the Calumet Colosseum.  Erin decorated the ballroom with the help of a few friends and family.   She did such an amazing job!   I loved it!The guys from the wedding party each had a personalized glass mug and the girls had wine glasses.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the place after Erin danced with her grandpa 🙂I caught Hannah laughing about something on the dance floor 😉I watched the grooms father get dragged out on the dance floor by his daughter in laws.  Fun stuff!Thank you Ryan and Erin for allowing me to be a part of your amazing wedding day!

And thank you to Claire for helping me shoot this wedding 🙂   A few of the above images came from her.  🙂

Treasured Photos

I took these photos of our beloved Grandpa (or Opa, as our kids call him)
last Sunday.   He went home to the Lord on Friday.
They are photos that my family will treasure forever.
This is the last day we spent with him.

Matt and OpaWe are enjoying reminiscing and celebrating his life with all
the family in town.  He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

You can read more about the lasting impact Opa made
in this Daily Mining Gazette article.

Jean { a teen photoshoot }

And yet another family member is featured on
the blog today 😉   This is my baby sister Jean.  She is 13.
I remember the day she was born…
seemed like just yesterday..lol.

We actually had good intentions of doing a longer
photo session but we kind of ran out of time.   I grabbed her for literally
5 minutes in my backyard and
got these quick photos.  I really love photographing
this age.  It’s a lot of fun to
photograph teenagers.  🙂
