It’s been a while since I’ve shared my gear. It’s always
interesting as a photographer to see what other photographers are using but I
also think it’s important for my clients to know that
when I show up at their wedding to document their day I am
fully prepared for all situations.
As a wedding photographer back ups are a necessity.
I have had a camera fail on a job.
I’ve always had a back up camera but that incident
prompted me to get an identical second camera. I need to know that I can
grab my second and not miss a beat.
I shoot Nikon 🙂 My current camera is a D700.
I have a wide variety of lenses to get through
every situation. My most used lenses are my 85 prime
and my 70-200 zoom lens.
My 3rd camera is a Nikon D90. It’s the back up to my back up 😉
Plus it’s the only camera that actually shoots video so I use
it for that occasionally. My airmac is my travel computer and I use
it to back up images through out the wedding day.
I have two flashes that I use for receptions. One usually sits on my camera
and the other one is somewhere off camera. I use pocketwizards to trigger them.
So that’s what I haul around on any given wedding day.
It’s heavy and I need a massage at the end of the day…lol.
First off I want to thank all of my 2014 seniors for allowing me to capture your senior photos 🙂
It was a wonderful season and I adored working with all of my seniors this year.
I plan to continue blogging the rest of those sessions next week.
The summer months are crazy busy for me and that’s possible to do by prioritizing
and knowing I’ll have a few months off in the winter. I’m still
wrapping up some end of the season things but I’ve already pulled out the sewing
machine and have been dreaming up my next quilt. I will hole up all winter and work on crafty projects 😉
I finished up Brady’s quilt the other day. So now, the pressure is off! All
3 kids have their quilts done and are not begging for me to finish them. I had to put Brady’s
quilt on hold all summer so he had to wait quite some time for it. I’m not
crazy about the backing on his quilt but it turns out fabric (and quilting) is
expensive! And I had already bought many yards of the orange chevron so I just went with it.
Up next is to finish my own personal quilt. I just ordered the backing fabric yesterday.
Snuggling up on the couch with a quilt makes me happy 🙂
Another new project I hope to start this winter is Project Life! Back in the day I was
an obsessive scrapbooker but then life got busy and it
was put aside. My kids wish I still documented their lives like that, so does Matt and so do I.
My memory is so bad so having those books is priceless.
I was introduced to Project Life, thanks to Creative Live and it looks fun! I plan
to start in January and document our year one week at a time.
What I miss most about scrapbooking is that fact that it always
prompted me to take more photos of our everyday life… something I have slacked on big time!
These babies are now 6, 8 and 10!! yikes!
Have a great day 🙂
So my space is finally at a point where
I can show it to you all. It’s still a work in progress
but it’s fully functional and being used. The main thing left to do is
finish decorating the walls. I do believe more canvas’ will
be ordered this week 😉
I leased this space back in March and
slowly but surely put it together. I wanted to furnish it
as inexpensively as possible so most of the items are thrifted.
The main splurges were the couch (from Sit N Sleep) and the TV.
The matching chairs came from home.
I made the curtains using inexpensive
Walmart panels. The round table and chairs and the coffee
table were thrifted and painted.
The area rug is from Urban Outfitters.
The TV dresser is from Goodwill. I painted it
a fun green and re-used the knobs by spray painting them
a matte black. The shelves are temporary until I
get more matching ones. I brought the bins from home but
first gave them a fresh coat of paint. Most of the accessories were thrifted also.I always have Jone’s soda for my seniors 😉This place makes me happy when
I walk in the door. 🙂 I use it to meet with
wedding clients, hold pre-consults and ordering sessions with seniors.
I’ve even done a little shooting
in here. Previously I did all this in my home but as
my business grows this is so much more convenient for
my family and my clients.
I did not take a ton of photos on this trip (besides the wedding).. most of them are on my iphone.
I use my iphone as my point and shoot because my big girl camera is soo stinkin heavy to lug around.
But I did take it out a few times to capture some of the scenery.
The resort we stayed at was beautiful. I felt like we were in a small town.
We haven’t seen flowers in months! I was loving all the pretty colors.
One of the many pools.
Main lobby walking from the pool area.
One of the buffet restaurants overlooking the pool.
The view from one of our balcony’s. (There were two!)My love… going back up the 4 flights of stairs for something I forgot. (I made him do it again right after..lol.)
Another pool. We chilled on one these cabanas one afternoon. It was divine. 😉
The view from the main lobby.
The beach! Oh the beautiful beach.
My love and I.
And back home to our kiddos. Such a pretty sunset.
Because I’m a procrastinator (and strongly dislike exercise) I’ve started a somewhat intense
work out program to get ready for Dominican Republic.
It has went from finding a 10 week program to an 8 week program to now almost 6 weeks 😉 So, I’m doing an
8 week program but have only 7 or less weeks to get it done 😉 It is kicking my butt!
And leaving me extremely sore.. which I hope is a good thing 😉 I’m thinking I don’t want to be in shape badly enough….
I made an inspiration board for my office
and when I walked into the new furniture store in Houghton, the first
thing I saw was a grey couch! Almost identical to the one on my board. Meant. to. be.
Don’t mind my fuzzy iphone photo.
My little lady has a gymnastics meet coming up and this time I WILL REMEMBER MY CAMERA!
The sad thing is, the last time it didn’t even cross my mind to bring it
with me 🙁 Photographers definitely sacrifice photos of their
own families when they provide them for others.
My kids all made their own board games a few weeks ago.
Not sure where they got the idea from but it kept them busy for hours!
And of course, we all sat down to play each of them.
And because this is random.. I’m a including a few recent photos of
my two little dudes. 🙂
