First off I want to thank all of my 2014 seniors for allowing me to capture your senior photos 🙂
It was a wonderful season and I adored working with all of my seniors this year.
I plan to continue blogging the rest of those sessions next week.
The summer months are crazy busy for me and that’s possible to do by prioritizing
and knowing I’ll have a few months off in the winter. I’m still
wrapping up some end of the season things but I’ve already pulled out the sewing
machine and have been dreaming up my next quilt. I will hole up all winter and work on crafty projects 😉
I finished up Brady’s quilt the other day. So now, the pressure is off! All
3 kids have their quilts done and are not begging for me to finish them. I had to put Brady’s
quilt on hold all summer so he had to wait quite some time for it. I’m not
crazy about the backing on his quilt but it turns out fabric (and quilting) is
expensive! And I had already bought many yards of the orange chevron so I just went with it.
Up next is to finish my own personal quilt. I just ordered the backing fabric yesterday.
Snuggling up on the couch with a quilt makes me happy 🙂
Another new project I hope to start this winter is Project Life! Back in the day I was
an obsessive scrapbooker but then life got busy and it
was put aside. My kids wish I still documented their lives like that, so does Matt and so do I.
My memory is so bad so having those books is priceless.
I was introduced to Project Life, thanks to Creative Live and it looks fun! I plan
to start in January and document our year one week at a time.
What I miss most about scrapbooking is that fact that it always
prompted me to take more photos of our everyday life… something I have slacked on big time!
These babies are now 6, 8 and 10!! yikes!
Have a great day 🙂
Finally a day where all three kids are in school! Woohoo! Of course that could change any minute if they decide to call to come home…. 😉 Between sick kid(s) and the snow day it’s been a while.
Just some random stuff today….
This little journal has been popping up on various blogs recently so I took advantage of my swagbucks and purchased it from Amazon. I love the concept of quick daily entries to help jog the memory over the years.
still sewing… basically just using up extra fabric on this quilt. I’m hoping Brady likes it enough to want it 😉
Gearing up for this upcoming season! Rethinking and working on my branding and the look of my business. Working on more consistency in every part of the business. Fun stuff! I’ve already been getting inquiries about this summer so I hope to open up my calendar for bookings sooooon!!!
and coffee…. Never liked Starbucks until they came out with the Blonde roast. Now I’m on that Starbucks band wagon 😉
Once the snow started, it just won’t stop! No school yesterday and a late start today. I would be okay with a late start everyday. I kind of like the late morning thing 😉
oh, well… makes for some good quilting weather 😉 If you’ve been following along, this is my current project. Just waiting for the backing material to come in. Cale has claimed this one as his despite the lack of star wars or penguins or super Mario brothers…. He likes the arrows 🙂
And I think I’ve figured out why sewing is sucking me in so bad. It’s the fabric! I could shop for pretty fabrics all day (and sometimes I do 😉 )
Another good snowy day activity… sitting on the couch with my newly made quilt and surfing my new ipad mini 🙂 I was feeling bad for hogging Matt’s Ipad all the time so I finally got my own. I went with a mini because I plan to use it for this little business of mine. I love it but I did notice instantly that the display is not as nice as Matt’s. Apparently that retina something or another actually makes a difference.
I hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying the snow!
I’ve heard someone describe themselves recently as having an addictive personality. That fits me to a T. I’ve had many obsessions come and go in my life over the years. I just may have found a new one 😉
I’ve always thought quilting seemed fun. But I always figured it was tedious and took forever and would be frustrating. I don’t have any sewing skills. I’ve had a sewing machine for years and years but have rarely used it. As you know, I’ve been hooked on Pinterest lately. Mostly I look for ideas to organize or work on my home. I stumbled across the blog of a quilter who has the most gorgeous home and her quilts inspired me to give it a whirl.
I’m loving all the fun happy bright quilts on Pinterest. I adore navy’s right now so my color scheme revolved around including navy. I found an inspiration quilt and then just made up the squares using strips. I always figured quilting took forever so I was surprised by how quickly a quilt can come together. This is snuggle quilt so it’s a bit smaller than a twin. I gave this one to Kir and now I’ve got two boys waiting for theirs. Hoping I don’t lose interest before I finish them 😉
I machine quilted using a zig zag stitch. I just played around with the settings until I liked what I saw.
Not gonna lie… I was pretty impressed with myself on this one! Don’t inspect the stitching too closely though… 😉
